Established in 2022, the Jamiyah Singapore–Dr Kutbuddin Medical Studies Award honours the memory and enduring legacy of the late Dr Dohadwala Kutbuddin. In 1975, Dr Kutbuddin pioneered the establishment of Jamiyah Singapore’s Free Medical Clinic, driven by his commitment to providing essential healthcare services to underserved members of the community.
The Award supports deserving students pursuing medical and nursing studies, with financial assistance of up to $5,000 for degree programmes. In 2026, its scope has been expanded to include students enrolled in nursing programmes at the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and polytechnics, with financial assistance of up to $1,000.
Applicants are assessed based on their academic achievements, personal values, and commitment to community service.
Through this Award, Jamiyah Singapore seeks to inspire future healthcare professionals to carry forward Dr Kutbuddin’s legacy of compassion, service, and altruism, while contributing meaningfully to the health and well-being of the wider community.
