The Launch of Community Initiatives At Jamiyah @ West Coast
Jamiyah Singapore collaborated with several bodies and launched a suite of youth-centric community service initiatives at West Coast in a bid to make more of its services available in the west. The centre, Jamiyah @ West Coast, will provide community outreach, counselling for youths, wellness, tuition and literacy services and programmes while serving as a food ration distribution and dry food collection centre for Jamiyah FoodBank.
To broaden the initiatives available for the community in the west, Jamiyah Singapore has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with The Green Apple Project Pte Ltd to provide character building and motivational programmes; Ngee Ann Polytechnic to expose youths to basic electronics, robotics assembly, basic programming skills, 3D printing technology and the Android system; the Grasio Association (Singapore) to provide Pencak Silat classes; the Student Welfare Services of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore for a youth mentorship programme; finally, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to provide a tuition and self-enhancement programme. Minister for Trade and Industry (Industry), Mr S. Iswaran, was the Guest of Honour for the event.
