The 19th DMDI Convention 2018
Dunia Melayu Dunia Islam (DMDI) – The Malay and Islamic World – was established in 2000 to promote unity and encourage cooperation among the Malay-Muslim diaspora in the world to foster progress and development in areas such as education, economy, arts, culture and sports. Jamiyah, as DMDI Singapore Secretariat, hosted the 19th Convention with the theme “Towards Greater Social, Economic & Cultural Collaboration” at the Max Atria @ Singapore Expo on Saturday 17 November. The International Forum featured presentations by business leaders, social and cultural experts, and 30 trade booths to promote B2B cooperation and collaboration.
His Excellency, Dr Mohamed Omar Abdullah Balfaqeeh, Ambassador of United Arab Emirates to Singapore, was the Guest-of-Honour at the forum. In the evening, Dr Mohamad Maliki Osman, Senior Minister of State for Defence and Foreign Affairs, graced the DMDI Convention Dinner as the Guest-of-Honour. Several Awards were also presented to those who have contributed to the social, cultural and economic development in the Malay and Islamic world. Dr H M Saleem, Vice-President 1 of Jamiyah Singapore was awarded the Anugerah Hang Tuah DMDI.
