It was a day of festivities at the Darul Ma'wa Children’s Home on 8th July 2012 as crowds of supporters thronged its new premises at 15 Guillemard Crescent. It was a momentous occasion for staff and residents of Darul Ma’wa as this was the first time that Darul Ma’wa’s Charity carnival was held at the new premises after shifting from Chin Cheng Avenue on 15th April 2012. The Guest of Honour, Minister of State for Manpower and National Development, Mr Tan Chuan Jin was greeted by President, Haji Abdul Karim Maidin and Jamiyah officials upon his arrival. He launched the Official opening of the renovated relocated facility of Darul Ma’wa and the carnival while also visiting several stalls and mingling with the crowd there. About 4,000 visitors enjoyed themselves while doing their bit for charity at the event which ran from 10am to 5 pm. There were about 56 stalls selling items ranging from food to clothing and home furnishings. Many enjoyed themselves at the game stalls as well. Jamiyah Singapore was certainly grateful for the overwhelming response from the public to the charity event.
