JAMIYAH SINGAPORE CELEBRATES THE BIRTHDAY OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD (PBUH)

‘KERANAMU RASULULLAH’, Maulidur Rasul 1430H

Celebrations to commemorate the birth of prophet Muhammad (pbuh), organised by Jamiyah Singapore on Saturday, 11th April 2009 at Tampines Stadium saw some approximately 20,000 strong crowd coming together in celebration.

The Guest of Honour was Dr. Yaacob Ibrahim, Minister for the Environment and Water
Resources and Minister-in-Charge of Muslim Affairs. The event started with an indoor procession participated by 67 Islamic Organisations which saw participants walked the stadium carrying banners displaying the respective names of their organizations and chanting eulogies in praise of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

President, Jamiyah Singapore, Tuan Haji Abu Bakar Maidin gave his Welcome Address where he thanked Dr Yaacob for gracing the occasion and highlighted in his speech, the prophet’s fine qualities and the many sacrifices he made in spreading Islam. The theme of the commemoration, “Because of You, Oh Rasulullah!” is thus a fitting tribute.

There were lectures by Moulavi Dr. Shamsudeen Jamali and Professor Muhammad Riza Dalkilic. Ustaz Fahrur Razi led the Maghrib prayer and conducted a salawat and doa session at the stadium. There were also Nasyid performances by various groups and songs performed by Datuk Sharifah Aini, Ms Faridah M Amin and Musly Ramlee. Ustaz Ahmaddini Hj Amir recited verses from the Holy Quran.

The generous heart of mother was emotionally portrayed in the drama ‘Al Qamah’, directed by Mr Nadiputra. ‘Wasiat Terakhir Rasulullah’ was the theme of the Forum that followed. The Forum was chaired and moderated by the learned Ustaz Azmi Abduls Samad. Dra. Farines Asdjar (Indonesia), Ust Badli Shah Alauddin (Malaysia) and Ust Dato Ismail Kamus (Malaysia) were the speakers at the Forum

The event came to an end with the recitation of doa by Ustaz Asri of Rabbani Group.
