“What good people can do during Recession?” |
| “What good people can do during recession?” was the topic for the IRO Multifaith Studies Programme held on Thursday 12 April 2009, Dewan ‘Ulum , (Hall of Knowledge )Jamiyah Business School. The speakers Mr Aspar Kersi from the Parsee and Zoroastrian Association of S.E.Asia, and a well-known entrepreneur Dr Lowel K. Anderson, Sister Judith Anderson, Directors of Public Affairs from the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints, USA, and Mr Mohamed Noor Said, Human Resource Manager of Jamiyah Singapore eloquently presented the need for people of religion to show their humanitarianism during times such as the recession and not just in times of plenty. Mr Ameerali Abdeali J.P of Muslim Kidney Action Association was the Chairperson. The series of talks which began in 2004 when Haji Abu Bakar Maidin was the President of the IRO have been held mostly at Dewan Ulum but since OnePeople.sg have agreed to co-organise the talks , sessions have also been held at its venue at 381, Lorong 1, Toa Payoh. The next talk will be on “What is Jainism?” by Mrs Madhu Doshi of the Singapore Jain Religious Society. |
